Private Coaching

Private Coaching Program

All of our coaching programs include an emotional intelligence assessment using the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT2), a performance-based measure of emotional intelligence. This web-based assessment presents a series of tasks designed to evaluate how participants perceive, use, understand, and manage emotions. Typically, it takes around 30–45 minutes to complete.

The primary objective of this assessment is to gather insights into leadership effectiveness. It is essential for participants to know that their MSCEIT2 results remain strictly confidential, shared only between them and their designated coach. We encourage each individual to respond as honestly and accurately as possible, ensuring they reap the full benefits of this developmental journey.

Upon completion, we generate an EI Leadership Report—an in-depth analysis of the MSCEIT2 findings through a leadership perspective—which serves as the foundation for the coaching program.

Program Overview

After the initial six private coaching sessions, our recommendations for ongoing coaching plans will be tailored to the coachee’s achievements and continuing development needs. All private coaching programs can be adapted to fit your individual or organizational requirements, and the following approach serves as a suggested starting point.

This program is grounded in the individual’s emotional intelligence (EI) strengths and development areas, with an initial recommendation of six sessions. Here is our standard program outline:

  • The first session includes a debrief of the MSCEIT2 assessment completed by the participant. Together, the coachee and coach will thoroughly explore the assessment results, examining how effectively the coachee perceives, uses, understands, and manages emotions at work.

This session lays the groundwork for the entire program by identifying the key focus areas for action planning and future coaching sessions.

    Learning Objectives

    • Understand what emotional intelligence is and why it is critical for leadership success.

    • Learn about the MSCEIT2 framework and explore its four core branches—perceiving, using, understanding, and managing emotions.

    • Examine leadership strengths and areas for growth through the lens of emotional intelligence.

    • Discover how these EI skills influence communication, relationship-building, leadership style, team effectiveness, productivity, and overall performance quality.

    • Investigate possible underlying causes for lower performance in specific areas of emotional intelligence.

  • In this second session, the coachee will learn the significance of goal-setting and the stages of change. Participants will gain practical strategies for planning and implementing personal development objectives, culminating in a detailed success plan.

Leveraging insights from the MSCEIT2 assessment, the EI coach will guide the coachee through a structured action plan that includes setting SMART goals, assessing their potential benefits, and defining clear success measures. This session will also identify the resources and support needed for achieving these goals, while addressing any potential barriers that might hinder progress.

    Learning Objectives

    • Recognize possible obstacles to success and develop strategies to overcome them.

    • Create a robust EI development action plan and commitment roadmap that addresses both short- and long-term objectives.

    • Establish a clear commitment to change, supported by a detailed implementation plan to ensure follow-through.

  • These three sessions focus on strengthening the coachee’s emotional intelligence skills, as identified through the MSCEIT2 assessment and the goals established in Session 2. Each session will center on one specific goal, with the coach guiding the participant through the necessary steps to achieve it.

    Learning Objectives

    • Enhance the areas of emotional intelligence that may be hindering professional growth.

    • Build awareness of how to leverage EI strengths for more effective collaboration within a team.

    • Recognize the importance of balancing various EI skills to maintain well-rounded emotional intelligence.

    • Acquire practical techniques for advancing key emotional intelligence competencies.

    • Understand the potential pitfalls or “dark side” of emotional intelligence and how it can influence daily interactions.

  • In this concluding session, participants are encouraged to critically assess their development journey and envision what sustained success looks like post-coaching. The session will spotlight potential leadership derailers that may challenge the coachee’s progress, while exploring how their MSCEIT2-derived emotional intelligence insights can be harnessed to address these obstacles.

Upon completion of the six-session program, participants will have a solid grasp of their EI strengths and significant momentum in addressing their development opportunities. They will also gain clarity on the actions necessary to meet their long-term growth objectives, understanding the importance of each goal for achieving both personal and professional aspirations.

    Learning Objectives

    • Appreciate the value of continuous learning in cultivating influential leadership.

    • Examine how emotional intelligence contributes to the organization’s strategic goals and assess its effects on both internal and external stakeholders.

    • Perform a thorough review of one’s personal development plan, evaluate progress, and map out the next steps for ongoing growth.

Delivery Format

Our private coaching programs can be delivered virtually, in-person (locally), or through a combination of both. We recommend allotting approximately one hour for each session to give the coachee and coach ample time to explore the material in depth.

  • If you prefer face-to-face interaction, we offer in-person coaching sessions. Our emotional intelligence coaches are happy to meet you at your office or even at your favorite coffee shop. Please contact us for more information.

  • We provide virtual coaching sessions globally, typically conducted via video conference to foster valuable face-to-face engagement. Phone sessions are also available for those who prefer a different mode of communication.
